Johann Schmidt’s ancient book. 13 ½ in. x 11 in. x 4 in. embossed, leather-bound and gilded, Old and New Testament bible with copper-colored metal frame and decorative clasps and bearing publisher’s marks of W. R. McPhun & Son and McFarlane & Erskine, Glasgow & London. The bible has been modified with insertion of a graphic, illustrated leaf with faux ancient images of a knight beheading a Griffin while holding a familiar Cosmic Cube. The facing page is of printed German calligraphy. The book is clearly visible, opened to the pages described above, in the very first scene between Dr. Zola and Johann Schmidt in the Hydra Base. Accompanied by a certificate of authenticity.
